Pipeline documentary nets national award

Guess what? We won an award for our Northern Gateway Pipeline documentary, and it’s kind of a big deal!
Terra Informa's award from the award ceremony in Winnipeg

Very curious to get this puppy in our hands and see what old-school equipment they built them out of!

For the fourth time now, we’ve been honoured for our work by the National Campus and Community Radio Association. At a ceremony in Winnipeg this week, the NCRA recognized our two-part radio documentary, Rough Waters and Divided Valleys: Voices From The Route Of The Northern Gateway Pipeline, for Outstanding Achievement: Syndicated Show or Podcast.

In the summer of 2011, Terra Informa correspondents set out on a journey to follow the path of the proposed Northern Gateway from its starting point in Edmonton to its terminus in Kitimat, on the coast of British Columbia. We wondered whether media coverage at the time was really capturing the full range of thoughts and feelings held by those directly affected. The documentary is the result of conversations we had over thousands of kilometres travelled, in communities with the most to gain, and the most to lose. What we found is that a seemingly simple pipeline is creating turbulence in some communities, while building solidarity in others.

Terra Informa has previously been recognized by the NCRA for Outstanding Achievement in News, Current Affairs and Documentary production.

A huge thank you to the NCRA for the honour, and to our home station CJSR for your continuing support.
